Copenhagen - Day 4 & 5

Thou Shall Not Cross! Unless You Pay $63
The Øresund Bridge costs $63 USD to cross (I thought the George Washington bridge was expensive!).
What Exactly Makes This Sandwich Special?
First things first – I had to find authentic Danish food. It was a little after dinner time on Sunday and shops were closing fast. Fortunately, Hallernes Smørrebrød at Torvehallerne KBH was still selling Danish open-faced sandwiches. I asked for the most popular Smørrebrød and a cup of white wine. The shrimp sandwich with remoulade was… not bad, but not memorable either. I must admit the topping-to-bun ratio was off the charts.

25Hours
The hotel was chic. Retro chic, I mean ultra chic.
The funny thing is I do not know what “chic” precisely means and I refuse to google the definition of the word. Many years ago, someone described a gas stove using this very word and I had no idea what she meant by it. The hotel for some reason reminded me of that gas stove.

So, I am going to use the word chic to describe the hotel.
Hotel 25hours is chic and if you disagree, here, eat some toothpaste caviar.

Aimless Tourist
After getting situated, I spent about an hour exploring the town. Downtown/city center/Indre By reminded me of the shopping district of Florence – mesmerizing architecture, but too commercialized for my taste. I got lost on the way back to the hotel but wandering aimlessly offered a great way to find little hidden gems in the town and drunk tourists.

Copenhagen Interpretation - Day 5
I woke up at 3:30AM the next morning and wrote until breakfast.

Breakfast with Rhino and Duck
My favorite part of the hotel was its breakfast. But not for its food. How is that possible? You may ask. Let me explain.
Check this out.

Even vegemite sandwiches and toothpaste caviar would taste great in this kind of place.
From unique decors to jazz music to friendly staff, it was just an ideal place to fantasize about what food I would rather eat.

While it looks appetizing, every item was equally mediocre, which made me wonder if they did that on purpose to discourage tourists from overeating.

Even the espresso didn’t taste good. I could tell it wasn’t the coffee or water, it was because the machine was not clean.
Despite the mediocre food, I still recommend dining at the hotel restaurant. It had a magical touch.
