Siofok is located on the southern bank of Lake Balaton, which is a major holiday destination with soft-sand beaches. I serendipitously (totally unplanned) visited the town on one of the most celebrated holidays in Hungary. August 20th or St. Stephen’s Day marks the greatest national holiday for Hungarians (comparable to Independence Day) with day-long festivities and fireworks.
